About dHealth Conference
Since 2007 the dHealth conference series, former known as eHealth conference, attracts 300+ participants from academia, industry, government and health care organizations. With its motto “Health Informatics meets Digital Health” the event provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, decision makers and vendors to discuss innovative health informatics and dHealth solutions. The focus is to improve the quality and efficiency of health care. It is the USP of this event that research and application meet as equals and provide new insights from both the scientific as well as the practical point of view.
We care about Sustainability
Waste reduction
Multiple efforts are made to reduce the waste that dHealth generates. First, to reduce paper waste, we do not hand out printed programmes to all 300+ participants. Instead, we focus on digital ways to display the programme in a comprehensive way (e.g., website, on-site screens). Second, in the same spirit, we try to recycle as many of the speakers’ name plates as we can. We aim to aggregate a catalogue of name plates and only print out those, who are first-time speakers. Third, we switched from paper feedback sheets to a fully digital feedback option via an online form. Fourth, to also reduce plastic waste, we try to reuse the lanyards and the transparent plastic sheaths which hold the participants’ name tag. We want our guests to be able to keep them as a memory of dHealth, but if they are returned voluntarily, we will reuse them if their condition is appropriate. Finally, our conference bags are made of recycled material if possible or cotton to incentivise our guests to reuse them.
Green catering
We rely on a catering provider that offers certified Green Catering. They provide regional products from sustainable agriculture. Products they have to import (e.g., coffee) are exclusively bought from suppliers offering fair trade practices. Also they only use reusable containers and no disposable products (e.g., for cups, cutlery, crockery) are used. Furthermore, they are also part of a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with addiction and guiding them through their rehabilitation journey.
Encouraging public transport
We deliberately do not offer free parking for our participants. On our website as well as on site, we highlight Vienna’s quality public transportation system and encourage our guests to rely on it for arrival to the conference site in pursuit of reducing our carbon footprint.
