| EIT Health was established in 2015, as a ‘knowledge and innovation community’ (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). As one of the largest healthcare initiatives worldwide, EIT Health supports innovation in healthcare, in order to improve the sustainability of healthcare systems, promote healthy living and active ageing and enhance the overall wellbeing of people across Europe. EIT Health leverages the expertise of more than 140 leading organisations from key areas of healthcare, such as pharma, medtech, payers, ICT, diagnostics and consumer products, as well as some of the world’s leading academic and research organisations, healthcare providers and public administrations. | |||||

| Regional selection of EIT Health Catapult for Austria, Germany and Switzerland | |||||
| Every year the EIT Health Catapult sources and accelerates 42 European startups in BioTech, MedTech and Digital Health that get high-quality training in business modeling and planning, investment deal negotiation and pitch training. The competition follows a three-stage procedure: (1) Regional selection, (2) Semi-finals (October 2021) and (3) The finals at EIT Health Summit (tbc). This year the Regional selection for Germany, Switzerland and Austria will be organized as part of the dHealth Conference, on 11 May 2021. The selected startups will present their projects in an online pitch competition and will be intensively examined by a jury of experts for their investment readiness. At this stage of the competition, start-ups battle it out to become one of the 42 start-ups selected to represent their region in the semi-finals. Two Semi-finalists in each category — biotech, medtech and digital health will be sent to the respective Semifinals which will take place online later this year.
